About Email
Importance of Email in Real Estate Today
A representative sampling NorthStarMLS companies and members was taken on July 21, 2002. The goal was to determine how many participants of the system in the Twin Cities real estate community are using email in their marketing. The sampling revealed interesting statistics.

Only 61% of the nearly 11,000 real estate agents on the system have email addresses of record and only 20.2% of real estate agents on NorthStarMLS have professionally "branded" email addresses.

A professional email address, like a good business card sets the user apart from the crowd. Using an address like Johns643@aol.com or catlover1234@yahoo.com is fine for personal communication but not for a real estate professional. How would you feel if you received an email from the vice president of a Fortune 500 company that was addressed from bighoncho2@yahoo.com? A professional image is VERY important to a real estate professional.

Does it really matter that so many agents don't have an email address? Consider the consumer.

National surveys show that over 80% of real estate consumers use the internet to locate property and/or answer their real estate questions.

National statistics also show that only 4% of real estate agents nationwide gain more than 20% of their business from the internet.

Consumers ARE using the internet for their real estate needs, but the real estate community at large, is NOT meeting needs of consumers.

Clearly, an agent who utilizes this valuable tool is meeting the needs of consumers.
